My Favourite Suppliers
Having worked in the wedding industry for quite some time, I've come across some really amazing suppliers. Here are a couple of my favourites below and to see even more super creative awesome cool suppliers you should absolutely head over to the Wedding Collective's website as they have some amazing creatives in their directory!
BANDS
It's SO important to find the perfect band with the perfect vibe for your night! You want guests up dancing and having a great time as well as some great entertainment - a band who interact with you and your guests and ensure you're having an amazing night!
The Sleekit Beasties
Looking for ceilidh and pop? The Sleekits are ideal for this! These guys do a fab mixture of ceilidh dances thrown in amongst plenty of pop tunes, so you and your guests can enjoy a great mixture of music throughout the evening.
Corra
Another excellent option for high quality live ceilidh and pop music for your reception - a high standard of everything, all round. They are without doubt one of my favourite wedding bands!
The Cutting Edge Band
Decided to opt for an evening of ceilidh? The Cutting Edge have been performing ceilidhs for over 25 years and are a great choice for a full-on ceilidh reception.
Papa Shandy and the Drams
Energetic, big sounds from Papa Shandy and the Drams. Another great option for a mixture of ceilidh and pop tunes (with a traditional twist) to keep your guests on the dance floor all evening.
Skara Ceilidh Band
Another band specialising and focusing on ceilidh music, these guys also offer a service for music through the day and even a DJ set if you don't want entirely ceilidh for the evening.
Manhattan
If you're interested in pop tunes all night, Manhattan are the guys for you! With a setlist full of current bangers plus some old school hits you'll have a night full of energy.
FLORISTS
One of my absolute favourite details of a wedding is the bouquet. I absolutely love how each bride I've worked with has gone for something different than another and it always feels like it matches her personality and style perfectly. I particularly love the rustic vibes with lots of greenery and wild flowers and some unusual choices thrown in.
CATERERS
One of the perks of my job is definitely getting to taste the delicious offerings of some of the best wedding caterers! Wedding food is pretty much always amazing, but there have been a few who have made a particularly good impression when it comes to both service, style and taste!
Wild Rover Food
Rob & Catherine NEVER fail to wow me with their wedding catering abilities and food. They use old school army ovens which they wheel around on the back of their very cool Land Rover and everything is freshly cooked and from local, sustainable suppliers.
The Pantry
Another favourite of mine, these lot also have a couple of restaurants in Edinburgh and I highly recommend a visit if you're a fan of brunch. Their food at weddings has been spot on every time I've worked with them and I get very excited when I see their name pop up on a booking form from my couples.
Regis
Regis have a wide range of experience in catering to large events as well as small ones. I've worked with them a few times at large weddings and it's amazing how they manage to work so smoothly while still creating incredible tasting food with beautiful presentation.
Earthy Foods
Earthy Foods do some amazing bespoke foods - so if you're going for a specific theme/region they have some really amazing choices available (the wedding I met them at was Mexican themed and it was DELICIOUS!).
Annabelle's
Tasty and wonderfully cooked meat carved at the table with some delicious sides. Add an extra level of fun to the meal by popping an apron under one of the guest's chairs and nominating them to be the one to carve the meat!
The Edinburgh Catering Company
You've probably already heard of them! Impressive visuals and delicious food and very popular throughout Edinburgh & the surrounding areas.
HAIR & MAKE-UP
With SO many make-up artists and hair designers around I can imagine it being rather overwhelming to choose who you would like for the day. I personally have never had my make-up done professionally, but I do have some favourites that I would personally choose from!
AMM Team
The AMM team specialise in both hair AND makeup, so if you're looking for somewhere to get both services from, they are a great place to start!
Laura Sutherland
Laura has beautiful attention to detail and done both the hair and make-up of one of my all-time favourite weddings and more. I fell in love with everything she done and the bride & her bridesmaids all looked stunning!
Helen McNeill
I've worked with Helen on many weddings now through Fife and she is just so lovely and relaxed. Her makeup application has been absolutely perfect each time and she's just such a relaxing energy to have around on the morning of the wedding.
Heather Snowie
Heather is a total gem and another very relaxing presence for a wedding morning. Each bride I've had who hired Heather went for a beautiful, effortless looking natural sort of vibe for their makeup and it looked perfect each time.
Hair About Town
Sean worked on some beautiful curly styles for one of my 2019 weddings and those curls stayed in for the whole day. Impressive. There was a mixture of up-dos and the bride had a beautiful, almost vintage-style, style that blew me away.
Karen Shields
I used to work with Karen back in my retail days and bumped into her again at a wedding all these years later. Karen has years of experience behind her and is another one of those calm-energy kind of people who pays beautiful attention to detail.
CELEBRANTS
A celebrant can really make or break the vibe of the ceremony - but thankfully almost every one I've worked alongside have been really great! There's a big selection out there, but here are some of my favourites and a wee snippet from their "about" pages...
Claire the Humanist
"I love weddings. I LOVE them. Big ones, wee ones, in the middle of nowhere with just you and some deer for company or in a big sparkly castle with more people than I have ever known in my whole life, I love them all."
Tegan Elder
"Being a celebrant is the most rewarding role. It is always an honour to be asked to bring families together as it is a privilege to be part of huge milestones in people’s life and can support them to create bespoke ceremonies."
Tim McGuire
"Your Ceremony, Your Words" is Tim's mantra - and I can vouch that every one of his ceremonies are personal, with a good balance of humour and focus on the couple and their guests.
Ian Whitelaw
Ian has been in the industry for quite some time and is an absolute pro when it comes to ceremonies. Gentle but humorous, he's great at telling each couple's story and making guests feel relaxed.
Linda Keys
"I deliver each carefully crafted ceremony with warmth, authenticity, professionalism and inclusivity. I work with the emotion of the occasion and my approach will help you to feel the true joy of your celebration, or create a space for healing and reflection."
Paul Browett
"I am a huge believer in celebrating life events in such a unique and personal way, with each ceremony designed to be special and memorable for all attending. Ceremonies should be filled with laughter, fun & tearjerkers - all in the right places!"
